THULITE

Crystal Information

A rare crystal also known as Rosaline Zoisite, this mineral has some interesting lore tied within its name. In this lore, we find how its energy works. In ancient cultures, there was a place where the sun never set, a place where the sun goes when it is not shining its light on our known world. A place just beyond our physical existence. This idea transcends a few systems of belief from the Greek, to the Norse, and even Biblical all with one commonality; it’s a place of paradise beyond our comprehension. This place was called Thule. Some believed this is the location of The Garden of Eden, others believe this was a place where people lived simply but had long lifespans up to a thousand years, and some believe this is the land of giants and gods. Regardless of what version resonates, the idea behind them all is the beauty, power and perfection hidden just beyond the world we have seen with our eyes. Things were possible in Thule that defied logic, that couldn’t be explained or compared to the normal physical world we knew – and this is the energy hidden within our crystal in question.

Thulite bridges the gap between the heart and the mind, and harmonizes the two. Feelings are one of those things that lies just beyond scientific explanation. Yes, we can understand why we feel certain things and we can find some logic for emotions however, there is so much that simply can’t be explained with words. Emotion is more than words, it is frequency and vibration – it is energy. Emotion fuels us to do things we would not believe we are capable of. Emotion inspires us and can also destroy us. Emotion is powerful. When the power of the mind is aligned with the power of the heart, anything is possible.

Thulite holds its strength in another area, one of extraordinary self-acceptance and love. It shows us how to embrace our strengths and our flaws equally. While also holding compassion and logic for ourselves. Knowing that we are not perfect helps us to see that some mistakes are necessary in order for us to learn and grow. To become strong and balanced we must experience all there is to feel. Thulite lends the strength and support needed to look beyond what we see in the physical world. To dig deeper and find our core self, to look honestly at what wonders lie within us so that we may share them with the world. This crystal shows us that anything is possible if only we have the belief and faith in ourselves.

ROSE QUARTZ

Crystal Information

This crystal is one that most people have heard of and most have also already associated as the crystal of love. I personally disagree with this narrative and feel pretty strongly that this is not a crystal to be used simply for love. To be honest, love isn’t typically something I pair with this stone. Emotional healing, yes but not general love. Let’s take a closer look at this amazing mineral.

Rose quartz is the pink to reddish variety of crystal quartz. It gets this coloration due to having minerals such as titanium, iron, or manganese trapped within the quartz during formation. In order to understand how rose quartz works with energy, we really need to go back and revisit crystal quartz for a moment. Crystal quartz can match any frequency, it aids any manifesting effort because it resonates with everything. So if we add just a couple minerals, we aren’t going to be left with a crystal that only resonates with love, but instead a crystal that resonates with ALL emotions. Many will disagree with my opinions on this crystal and that is okay, how we feel crystal energy is different for everyone because we are all different. For the most part, crystals work with the energy that is present. If the energy around isn’t that of “love” but rather of lust, jealousy, spite, anger, or any other emotion, then love isn’t going to be the thing we feel from this crystal. Not initially anyway.

This is a crystal that works to both amplify and heal emotions. It helps to make us aware of our emotions or dis-ease so that we can bring strength or soothe them. The following is an excerpt from Crystals; Book One Finding your way. I am including it because this particular bit of lore is my favorite way of explaining the energy of rose quartz.

“We start with a king named Theias and how he boasted his daughter Myrrha was so beautiful, even more so than Aphrodite. Aphrodite was not a huge fan of this notion so she wanted a bit of revenge and acquired the help of Eros, the god of attraction and desire. He used his powers to get Myrrha to fall in love with her father and she did some sneakery and did the dirty deed with her dad. Once the king realized what had happened, he was very angry and set his mind on killing his daughter for tricking him into committing incest with her. Myrrha, ashamed and regretful, pleaded with the gods for help and protection. Taking pity on her, they turned her into the Myrrh tree. However, she was already pregnant with Adonis and soon after becoming the tree she gave birth to him.

Aphrodite saw the child and was smitten with him immediately. Wanting to hide him from the world she sent him to be cared for by Persephone in the underworld. As he grew, it was apparent he had his mother’s beauty and became more attractive as he aged. As this happened Persephone also fell in love with him and refused to give him up to Aphrodite. Zeus was called in to bring resolution to the love triangle and said Adonis would spend 4 months with Persephone and four months with Aphrodite, the remainder of the year he would choose who he would be with. Having a great love for Aphrodite he chose to spend his extra time with her. He accompanied her to Earth one day and went hunting while Aphrodite tended to her duties.

Knowing there was another in this love equation, Aphrodite warned him to be wary of anyone who did not respect his status as a deity. Aphrodite had many lovers, one of which was a jealous Ares, who just happened to be waiting for the right time to get some revenge. Ares disguised as a boar attacked Adonis, mortally wounding him. Aphrodite heard the cries and hurried to him, cutting herself on a thorny bush on her way, she tried to heal Adonis with some magic nectar but was too late. Their blood mixes together and soaks into the ground. From this blood-soaked earth blooms the first anemone, which is said to smell like the healing nectar of Aphrodite. Now, seeing the despair, Zeus takes pity on the lovers and makes it so Adonis is brought back to life for six months of the year. It is said that in the spot where those first anemone sprouted, the stone of the earth turned from white to pink giving birth to rose quartz, the stone of love and rebirth.

That is some kind of story, right? Love is the most powerful emotion but can very quickly turn into other sneaky emotions. The story shows many sides of what can be seen as love by different perceptions. Rose quartz can bring strength to any of those not so favorable emotions as well as love. I know, I am the worst. I am probably the only person in the world who can shit on the stone of universal love but love is complicated and only seeing the good side of it would be not an intelligent way to use your ingredients. To understand love, you must also understand what happens when things are not in balance. Balanced love is perfect and strong and wonderful but when balance is not present our needs seem to outweigh reason and logic.”

Rose quartz resonates with the entire story above. Not any one part of it, not any one character, but all of it. This is why I don’t blanket statement this crystal as the stone of love. The frequencies it spans are just too vast, it leaves too much wiggle room for those sneaky emotions to influence the situation while manifesting. That said, rose quartz will find its way into nearly all of my work. It is a stone that helps us to feel, then given time, it begins a chain reaction of understanding and communicating what we are feeling so that we can find our way to healing. When it comes to healing, rose quartz is on the top of my list because of its ability to soothe. Just as in the story Zeus is called in to help mediate, once rose quartz helps bring to light all emotions it will find the way to help smooth any “frayed edges” of the energy field so that healing may begin. It aids physical healing as well as it provides an anti-inflammatory effect on the physical body. This stone is so much more than love! It can help provide comfort and support, but it can also help those who hide their emotions to embrace and display them. Oftentimes the beginning stages of working with rose quartz can be a bit turbulent but if we exhibit patience, we might just find our way to that love everyone is always talking about. So it isn’t that I don’t think this stone resonates with love, but rather I think that labeling it as such has created great limitations as to the actual benefits of working with this stone.

Here are just a few applications for this crystal:

-Aids all healing efforts (physical & emotional)

-Draws out hidden or repressed emotions

-Helps accept and heal trauma

-Assists with expression of emotions

-Provides an anti inflammatory effect

-Provides comfort and soothes frayed nerves

-Inspires compassion & passion

-Inspires forgiveness

-Initiates a reflective state of being

-Amplifies emotions

-Instills emotional endurance

-Helps one to see the beauty in all things

-Assists with finding pathways to resolution

-Helps us to understand why we feel the way we do

-Facilitates a connection between the sacral all the way to the brow chakra

-Birthstone for the month of January

Above all it is known as the stone of love due to its ability to help one find their way to a state of calm, peace and universal love. However, the road there is not immediate and can be rocky or at times dramatic. This is not a stone of instant love, but rather enduring love and healing.

RHODONITE

Crystal Information

With its name coming from the Greek “rhodon”, which means rose, this crystal has more than color in common with this well known flower. The rose is thought by cultures across the globe to be a symbol of the divine. Associated with universal love and divine work, many think the scent of the rose is left behind when help from angels has been received. The theory is they select the rose as a calling card due to the rose being the highest vibrating plant- as much as five times higher than other plants. This isn’t just something that we claim, it is measured with actual science and comes in at 320 Hz significantly higher than other plants.

There is more than just the high frequency of the flower that makes it the perfect form of communication, such beauty can be found in how it grows. This is where we find the meaning of our crystal in question as well. As the rose sprouts from the ground, it does so from sparse stick like branches, branches that develop pointy and sort of dangerous looking thorns. As the plant grows taller we see leaves grow on these sticks of doom, but they are not overly inviting looking leaves they are sort of jagged and not really soothing. As the plant grows more, it develops many of these branches and they are intriguing to look at. Upon gazing at them we are sort of called to look deeper and follow the intermingled mess of dull colored twigs until eventually they sprout tiny buds that break through the dull and dreary bush like base. Once these buds appear the entire plant transforms. The leaves hold a bit more color, the thorns seem a little less ominous and the beauty and perfection of even the tiniest hint of a flower is undeniable. As that flower begins to open, an even greater beauty is revealed. A completely unexpected captivating beauty sprouts from those pointy sticks. Little by little it unfolds from its compact state growing more unbelievably stunning as it blossoms and becomes the rose we all know. Unfolding layers of petals in order to become what it was intended to be. This journey from the dirt to the flower is why this plant is said to be the work of the divine.

The journey the rose takes draws a parallel to our own journey and the idea that sometimes the most beautiful things grow from unexpected places. We just need to peel back the layers. Those thorns were needed to protect the plant so that it could grow and develop the way it needed to. So too do we need all of our experiences in order to become our best self. Rhodonite aligns us with our own journey so that we can see that even our thorns contribute to our great beauty. A stone associated with love, and deep emotional healing; it works so well to connect us to the purpose of our experiences so that we may embrace all that we are and everything that helped us become the us we know today. It also allows us to see that we are never done growing. Just as the one rose will die, a new one will sprout. There are always new transformations blooming, even when we don’t realize it. This crystal promotes an awareness of ourselves and our connection to the divine. Providing the supportive knowing that we are never alone, and we have all we need to grow and flourish if only we look within.

PINK AVENTURINE

Crystal Information

All colors of aventurine are considered to be lucky stone. This is due to the sparkly inclusions that can be found in all variations. The name originally came from an Italian glass maker who accidentally spilled material into his work, and ended up with some beautiful glass with inclusions. The technique came to be known as Avventiruna and the name was given later to the natural mineral who bears a resemblance to this glass artform. The colors of each type of aventurine come from the different mineral inclusions that can be found within the stone. Pink aventurine gets its color from lepidolite, hematite and or goethite. So we end up with a mineral that has quite an interesting mix of strength, stability, calm and emotion. It is known by many as “The Heart Healer”.

Pink is one of those colors often associated with females and while this is sort of true on an energetic level, the understanding of this has gotten a bit twisted over time. Pink is not weak, it is not dainty, it is not frilly lace dresses. Pink holds feminine energy arguably better than any other color. Feminine energy does not belong to a gender as we all have both masculine and feminine energy within our fields. Feminine is the unseen, the read between the lines, the intuitive, the emotion. Now, some may think that emotion itself is weakness. Irrational and unbalanced. This can be true at times but again, if we look from an energy perspective, emotion is what drives us. Emotion is where our strength lies. Logic can only get us so far, we must have the heart to fight, to pursue, to never give up. These things come from emotion. They come from the feminine energy. Yes, masculine will fight, but that thing that makes you get back after you have been knocked down a hundred times, that right there is the feminine energy in you. The energy that connects to something deeper, the unseen force of strength, the inner knowing that you must keep going. Pink is strength in a way that can not be measured.

Pink aventurine holds within it all of these strengths and more. It connects us to our emotional center but the minerals inside promote calm, rational thinking, and stability. They ground our emotions in our reality so that we may better apply our strength to the areas we will see the greatest impact. This crystal helps us to harness our emotions and the energy behind them. It brings with it a lighthearted happy go lucky energy combined with the strength to keep trying – no matter how many times you get knocked down. It connects us to hope.

PETALITE (Pink)

Crystal Information

A mineral with high lithium content, petalite brings with it an undeniable stillness and calm.  It is said that this mineral is one that facilitates communication with spirit guides however, I am assured there is no mineral that is ever required for this purpose as our guides can always effectively communicate with us even if we don’t realize it is happening. What petalite does do well to aid this task is quiet your inner doubt and strengthen the trust you have in yourself. By allowing us to see the truth of a situation with calm clarity we are then able to better receive guidance; both from our guides and our own inner knowledge.

Petalite is a high vibrational stone that helps to clear away energy blockages and low vibrational energy. It works well along with energetic protection efforts due to its ability to raise the vibrations around it, as well as the soothing and peaceful energy it provides.
