OWN YOUR ENERGY

Thoughts From The Void

The idea that we control our energy is a difficult to learn. It is a concept that is much easier said than done. The idea that people or circumstances should not shake us is something we can all agree on, but we don’t always find success during application. The opinions of others, both good and bad should not dictate what happens within our energetic field. One’s value is not determined by the level of importance other people bestow on us. Also, the storms others may be weathering only can influence us if we choose to let them.

This is one of those things we all do and very rarely pay much notice to; unless of course, it has a negative impact on us. Think for a moment about how much energy you give away. How much control you hand over to others. I never gave it much thought from this angle but think of how you feel when someone pays you compliments. Think about when you unintentionally seek approval from other people. If we feel unsure of ourselves, we might look for validation. This is natural, but that feeling of self-approval that comes from a source other than the self is not really the best practice. It is one thing to enjoy a compliment, but it is another thing entirely to require them.

When we look for validation in others, the control over how we feel is no longer ours.

We control what energy we allow to influence us. Very few situations fall outside of this truth.

The same goes with the negative side of this. It is ok to say, I am not participating in this. There is nothing wrong with recognizing someone else’s storm and deciding you don’t want to weather it with them. Then simply walk away from that bit of turbulence until the time comes when you are comfortable to revisit it.

Remember, it is our energy, and it is our job to maintain it.

CLAIRSENTIENCE

Thoughts From The Void

(Clear sensing)

This is the ability to gain insight based on feeling things that are not of the physical world. Think of it sort of like being a human barometer in that this sense allows you to recognize disturbances or changes in the energy of an environment.

This is a very relatable clair-sense because everyone has experienced this at some point. Have you ever walked into a room and without seeing or hearing anything you could tell there was tension? Ya know, that awkward moment when you know you walked into something but not sure what. That is an example of clairsentience at work. Those gut feelings that provide insight without any physical cues are likely your clairsentience at work!

This particular clair is excellent for aiding intuitive efforts and understanding messages from spirit.

The Sacral Chakra is the power center for this sense. I feel clairsentience helps us to know things on an instinctual level. We require a little less interpretation as there is more of a basic understanding of things when this sense is contributing to the conversation.

Crystals can help!

crystals for

Crystals such as topaz, orange kyanite, dumortierite, smoky quartz, moonstone, and petalite can help to manage and develop Clairsentience. My personal favorite here is smoky quartz as I feel it harmonizes all of the energy we are working with in a way that allows us to decipher it through this “just knowing” sense.

To strengthen your clairsentience

If you want a simple exercise to begin to strengthen your clairsentience, sit in a room that is not cluttered and has been cleansed. We want a blank slate of a room. Just pay attention to how you feel in your surroundings. Look around the room and really gain an intimate understanding of how it looks and feels. After a few moments, close your eyes and feel the room. We want to do this without moving our physical bodies. To do this, just be still. It might feel like you are doing nothing, but nothing is what we want. The goal here is to feel only our energy and the empty room as it is.

The feeling we are looking for is similar to that feeling of being close to people. Perhaps you have been in an elevator with a stranger before. They were just minding their business, but you feel extra not alone. There is something odd about being in an elevator with people. Especially less people. I believe it is more than having an awkward interaction with a stranger. We can better feel another person’s energy this way. We feel us, the blank room, and the other person. It creates a bit of conflicting energy. That feeling of “feeling energy” is what we are experiencing here. Sometimes it is energy that feels jarring, and other times it is comforting, or even neutral. Right now, we are trying to expand our auric field so we can feel the energy of the room and anything in it.

After you have a good feel for the room add something to the room and move things around the room if you can. Now sit and see what feels different. Identifying the differences and feeling the energy movement is the practice that will help to strengthen this clair-sense in a less controlled environment.

Be mindful and pay attention

The more you pay attention to how different environments make you feel, the more in touch you will get with your clairsentience.

 MULADHARA

Thoughts From The Void

Root Chakra

Often people ask what crystal to use for particular applications. My opinion on this is that suggestions are amazing, but nothing beats your own belly. If you feel a crystal is the right one, it is likely the right one – even if you don’t know why. With that said, I feel you can use pretty much any crystal to balance any chakra. They all attract or repel something, and sometimes our issues are not “standard”. Blanket lists are not going to work because our issues are not one size fits all. I do have some favorites that I feel resonate well with most disfluency issues. The crystals I chose for the first chakra, are selected for their ability to provide stability, strength, and support.

Think of our energy system like a tower of blocks. If you put a triangle block on the bottom, you can’t very well build a stable tower. The base is crucial! So, stability is the name of the game for me when it comes to the root chakra.

The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Muladhara which translates to “Root of existence”, and it is associated with Earth.

The following is an excerpt from my book, Crystals Book One Finding Your Way, which is available on Amazon.

Common name: Root or Base Chakra

Color: Red

Keywords: Grounding, Security, Survival

An imbalance in this chakra means you experience the world through a filter of fear and insecurity. The effects of which can manifest in a multitude of different ways. If you find you are always in survival mode, you may want to take a closer look at this chakra. Below are a few indicators to help you determine the functionality of your first chakra.

Suggestive signs of excessive energy: obesity, overeating, greedy, materialistic, egoistic, boredom, lethargy, insensitivity, pessimistic attitude, selfishness, indifference, fear of change, hoarding, stubbornness, addiction to security

Suggestive signs of energy deficiency: excessive worry, phobias, fearful/panic, confusion, suspicious, uneasiness, underweight, hopelessness, poor boundaries, withdrawn, disinterested, absent-minded, chronic disorganization, disconnection from body, sense of not belonging, anxious, restless, can’t settle

The following is a list of crystals that can help balance the energy in the Root Chakra. I have listed a few keywords associated with each. My personal favorites for this chakra are:

THE SEVEN MAIN CHAKRAS

Thoughts From The Void

There is a ton of information to be found about the human energy system. Our thoughts, feelings, and physical well-being all influence our energetic system. Likewise, our energy influences our physical self. When an issue resides in one, it manifests in the other.

While it is believed that there are seven “main” chakras, there are 114 total chakras and 72,000 nadis. The nadis are thought to be the pathways along which energy travels, and the chakras are thought to be the purification and distribution centers for life force energy. When disfluencies occur within this energetic system, we see manifestations of this in our physical, mental, and emotional bodies.

One way to tell where energy may not be flowing freely is through the use of mantras. If the statements in the picture below do not fully resonate, then the corresponding chakra, or energetic pathways nearby, might need to be brought into balance.

SELF-HEALING

Thoughts From The Void

“How am I feeling?”

Healing is a very complex topic, especially when we start digging into the various forms and methods used to target the act of healing. We can see a doctor, a shaman, a priest, a friend, or even a loved one to achieve various forms of wellness and balance, and that all falls into the category of healing. When we use a combination of all available practices, we increase our chances of finding the harmony we are seeking. I typically try to address the energy behind my ailments first and then go from there. For all things that seem strictly physical, seeking advice from someone who is well versed in healing the physical body is the most logical thing to do. It is important to realize that we are more than just our physical body. For all of those issues that fall outside the realm of our conventional medicine’s effectiveness; this is when we look to our energy. These are the areas we are capable of healing all on our own!

The biggest part of self-healing comes from being mindful of how we are actually feeling, and more importantly – why. Getting into a routine where we perform “self-checks” is the hardest part of this. This first step of self-healing can be completed with the foundational information I have already shared. You do not need to be a Reiki Master in order to heal yourself. You just simply need to have the will to have balance and strength in your own being. As always, if there are parts of what I do that resonate with you, take them and make them your own. If there is anything that feels like it needs modification, make the changes and apply them to your personal practice how you see fit.

This practice is very easy and takes minutes a day. The key here is doing it every day as the benefits of this “ritual” will be felt over time and will help to provide emotional and energetic stability as well as the recognition of when we need to make a change in our physical lives to facilitate our own wellness. Yes, I say ritual because I believe a ritual is anytime we act intentionally concerning something sacred to us. We should be the most sacred thing to us. We deserve our full attention at least twice a day! When we are at our best, we can do more good for the world around us.

*SELF HEALING ASSESSMENT RITUAL*

Upon waking in the morning (or whenever it is you start your day) take a few moments to become centered and take notice of how you feel. Actually ask yourself “How do I feel?” Take note of anything going on within your personal bubble. Are you feeling sluggish, do you have any physical discomfort? Then go deeper, emotionally how are you feeling? Are you looking forward to the day? Are you filled with a bit of dread? Then go deeper. Energetically how do you feel? This one might be tricky at the start, but this is the answer we are looking for the most as it is the “behind the scenes” influencer of most of the previous answers. This is where our state of being is hiding.

Have you ever heard someone say, “My soul is tired”, or the opposition of “Bursting with joy”? These are the feelings inspired by our energetic body. Both of which might require some grounding and circulating. When we encounter various frequencies that impact our energetic system and do not address them, they remain and circulate in our energy field. As they do this, they have subconscious influence over our being. These energies are what we are hoping to become aware of. This will be the starting point for our self-healing.

As we take notice of everything we are feeling, from the physical to the energetic, try to find the origin for what it is we feel. Example: “My knee hurts because I walked up the steps a dozen or so times”. Only, we want to do this for everything we feel. Maybe you feel frustrated with a conversation you had. Perhaps you are worried about a loved one. Notice all things you are feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally. All of these things impact our ‘energy’. Everything, every single energy we take notice of, we want to find the point of origin. NOTHING gets to reside within our energetic field without us being aware of it.

Awareness is the key to resolution and healing.

If we don’t know why something is influencing us, we can’t control its influence.

Once we recognize what we are feeling and why, it is then time to ask ourselves if this is a temporary feeling or something that requires addressing. The knee pain, for example, will be temporary. If I want to, I can put some ice on it or take some anti-inflammatory medication, but it will most likely resolve itself. Take the time to go through addressing everything and decide if actions must be taken to bring resolution to the energy behind the feeling. There will be things we can’t find resolution for. This is okay, take stock of those particular energies and know they are working behind the scenes. They will present themselves in “triggers” and irritants throughout your daily life. They will not go away for good until they have been addressed but try to not dwell on them at this point as they are likely something that requires shadow work, and that is a topic for another day. For now, simply acknowledge they exist and honor yourself by knowing that when you are ready, you will find a way to address these energies.

Our thoughts, emotions, and physical body all influence our ‘energy’.

Sometimes we will feel overwhelmed when we really start to take notice of what is going on within our system. Should we encounter this sort of spiral of overwhelming energy and emotion – pause and collect yourself. Being mindful and aware is important when engaging in self-healing and we must remain in control. This means, recognizing when it is time to re-center and ground. When moments of overwhelm occur, it is okay to take a step back and remind yourself of the present moment. Every feeling holds merit, every emotion is an important clue to our well-being, but everything does not require your attention at the same exact time.

When lots of energy comes forth at once, center, ground and then ask yourself, “Why do I feel so overwhelmed?” Locate the area of your life you feel you lack control over and find a starting point to regain control. Maybe you have more to do than you can really accomplish in a day. Perhaps you feel like the weight of the world is falling on you. You have to work, manage the house, pay the bills, take care of family, find time for yourself, and more. This is a common area that overwhelms people. When we encounter these energy overloads, look to the origin – what do all of these troubles have in common? Is it that we have too much to do? Or is it that we don’t feel supported enough to ask for help? Do we not enjoy doing all of the things or some of the things we have to dedicate our time to? There is always an underlying reason for what energy resides in our field. The foundation of healing comes from the identification of these reasons.

When there is chaos in our system, it wreaks havoc on our lives.

These are the energies we really should not leave unaddressed. We can accomplish all of our long to-do lists and more; but if we don’t face those feelings that lie beneath our chaos, then they will continue to influence our lives in less than positive ways. For the one example given above, we would need to vocalize how we are not feeling supported and bring it to the attention of the people we feel are not lending us the support we need. We also need to take responsibility for our own well-being. We can’t do everything, and it isn’t reasonable to think we can. So, a shift in perspective is also required to resolve the disharmonious energy that pertains to our overwhelming feelings in this example. We need to reevaluate what we think we need to do, delegate what we can, and ensure we are dedicating some of our time to what makes us feel fulfilled.

Once we have addressed or acknowledged everything we are feeling, it is time to ground and circulate our energy. We want to get all of our energy flowing, filtering it through the Earth’s energy and back up through our system so that we resonate at the frequency that best suits our current needs. Do we need a day of rest? Do we need to be motivated? Do we need more grace? Start the day by attuning yourself to the frequency you require to have the day you want to have. You can do that! As you circulate your energy, focus on how you want to feel. Not simply “I want to feel good”, but rather match the energy of where you want to resonate

There are a lot of words in there that make this all sound a bit mystical and not based in reality. While I prefer to use words that have a meaning we all agree upon, understanding that these terms have real life applications only takes a minor shift in perspective. Being aware of how you feel is not some kind of magic. Influencing your ‘energy’ is simply no different than choosing to control your mood. Being aware of what bothers you, addressing it, and rising above it is where self-healing begins. There is no magical source that is coming to fix you. You and your will can influence how you feel on a daily basis. It requires patience as well as the will to keep trying even when you fail. Our beliefs dictate how far into the mystical we go with healing, but I like to keep one foot firmly planted in reality. The energy around us can help if we believe we have access to it. However, it can’t do for us what we are not willing to do for ourselves.

Self-healing is a lifelong practice, and not just a one-and-done deal. Being mindful of how we are feeling is the starting point for any of the healing methods you might wish to engage in. Be it a trip to the doctor or the balancing of chakras, we first must acknowledge how we are feeling if we want to find effective “treatments” for the areas in which we feel dis-ease. Performing some method of self-assessment each day can help to produce lasting balance and an overall improved quality of life. Ideally, we will find the time to perform this check both when we start the day and just before we end the day. You might be surprised to find how much baggage we process while we sleep. If left unaddressed, these energies will be influencing our dreams and astral experiences which might prevent restful sleep – this is something that impedes wellness.

In time the process of self-assessment will be much quicker and take only minutes to complete. The more time we dedicate to honoring what we are feeling, the more we will understand all we are feeling. The more conscious we become of the energy that circulates within our field, the less subconscious influence those energies will have over our daily lives.

RAISING VIBRATIONS

Thoughts From The Void

We have the power to control how we feel.

Raising our personal frequency is something that comes up a lot when we talk about all things “spiritual”. Resonating with lower frequencies creates many obstacles, both seen and unseen. When we learn to raise our frequency, we also improve our energetic protection, manifesting capabilities, connection to inner guidance, and our overall well-being. It is something that might not be very exciting but is something imperative to master. We should be the only thing that can influence where we resonate. Sure, somethings will have to have an influence on us every so often if we wish to be a part of the world; but we have the ability to control where we resonate.

What does that mean? Resonate. In the simplest way of understanding, it is how we feel. Our energy is strongly linked to our emotional state, but it is also connected to our physical wellness. If you want to know where you are resonating, just pay attention to how you feel.

A good amount of what goes into raising vibrations is common sense. If it is good for your body, it is good for your vibrations. If it is not good for your body, it will not raise your vibrations. Pretty simple. There are no loopholes here. If your doctor would not say it is good for your physical health, consider it NOT on the list of things that help to raise your vibrations. Too many medications can also be detrimental for our wellness, so compare opinions on what people say is good for your physical body.

To be clear, I am not telling anyone to stop taking medications. I am only saying they have an impact on how you feel, and it isn’t always a good influence. Sometimes we take medications to take the “easy” way out. If you struggle to keep yourself feeling well, that might be an area to examine with the help of a medical professional. If we want to be the best us, we need to help ourselves out by taking care of our physical, emotional, mental, and energetic being.

Physical Influencers

Exercise, eating healthy foods, drinking enough water, and keeping the things that don’t contribute to a healthy lifestyle to a minimum, is really the best course of action when it comes to keeping vibrations high and strong. Again, there are no loopholes here, if it is not contributing to good health, it is lowering your frequency. This doesn’t mean we can’t ever eat ice cream or have a glass of wine. If we exhibit self-control and moderation, the lowering of vibrations from these things is only temporary. Making our physical body strong in a balanced way is one of the biggest contributors to a strong energetic frequency.

Mental Influencers

Meditation is another really big contributor to this equation of wellness. I don’t mean you need to sit with your legs crossed and be still for hours a day to meditate, but rather take time to let your mind be still – even if all you can spare is five minutes a day. That five minutes of calm can help to stabilize your energy so that your energy doesn’t scatter, and your frequency doesn’t lower.

Our minds tend to wander and little bits of ourselves become “stuck” in certain places. Our thoughts are a part of our consciousness – our spirit. If our spirit is dwelling on that unfinished to-do list, or that goal you wish to one day achieve, then all of you is not present in the now. Again, temporarily this is natural and not a big deal. If we do not take mindful action to command all of our spirit back to our present moment, we will be a spirit divided.

Emotional Influencers

Paying attention to our emotions throughout the day and taking stock of the things that trigger us is one of the less obvious things we can do. Often, we get bothered by things and it shakes up our energy. Sometimes this lingers in our system. If we take the time to find the root cause of these triggers, the things that set us off will no longer imprint negatively on our system. When we start acting like a bit of a jerk, we need to address our own behavior instead of blaming the world around us. We are not victims of circumstance, very few situations fall outside of this truth.

The same is true for good emotions. If we allow the positive experiences we have to hold great influence over our energy, we will see a fluctuation in our frequency that will become noticeable over time. The trouble with this is that when we do not have the influencer present, we will begin to feel a sense of lack. We then end up feeling the need for the approval of others or behavioral patterns of this nature. Small fluctuations are fine but if we find that our positive feelings tend to come from outside sources, it is good to recognize that we are not taking control of our well-being. Notice how you feel when you get a compliment. If the compliment causes a significant shift in your feelings, it may be helpful to dig deeper into why that is. The energy and intentions of the world should not hold more power over your energy than you do.

We are in control

We are in control of ourselves and our energy. We choose how we react and if we habitually react in a negative way, or if we allow ourselves to be treated with less respect than we deserve, those frequencies reside within our system. If we want to raise our frequency, we must take steps to change our behavioral patterns so that we no longer align with negative or self-detrimental energy.

If we take stock of the things we worry about, where our mind wanders to, then we can also call our energy back to the present and decide if these things are within our control to fix. If they are not, then we need to try to let them go and trust in ourselves to be able to find the path to resolution when the time comes. If they are within our capabilities to remedy, then we should set aside time to make a plan. This way we are in control and fully aware of where our energy is going.

There is an exercise I enjoy, and it involves crystals. I prefer selenite, apophyllite, or satin spar for this job but you can choose any high vibrational crystal you like. This exercise is called Match the Energy. This is something we can all do! Have you ever seen that meme that says something along the lines of

“I match energy so you decide how we will act”

Yeah, I dislike that meme because it is a bit misguided in my opinion. Embracing the idea that someone else controls how you act doesn’t feel empowering to me. There is truth in it, although I will never intentionally lower my frequency to match anyone, the concept behind it inspired this exercise. So, with that said, if you have resonated with that meme, you already know how to do this exercise!

MATCH THE ENERGY

After I complete my centering, grounding, shielding, and circulating exercises (sounds like a lot but it only takes minutes), I sit with the crystal of my choosing. I know what my energy feels like as I have just become grounded, released all excess, set clear boundaries between me and the energy of the world, my energy system is clear and free flowing so now when I add the crystal to my auric field, I can feel its frequency. Don’t look for something huge here. It isn’t a buzzing or anything like that normally. Just notice anything different you feel, emotionally, mentally, physically – anything. I focus on this feeling. If you feel nothing at all, just focus on how the crystal feels sitting in your hand. You must still your mind and be aware of yourself. This may not happen the very first time or even the first few times. If you do not believe you can feel the energy, you likely will stop yourself from noticing it.

Feel the energy of the crystal go into one hand and make its way through your entire energetic system. It goes in the arm, down the side of the body, through the legs, and up the other side of my body, then out into my auric field. I continue this circulation until I can no longer tell the difference between my frequency and the frequency of the crystal. This helps me to match the frequency of the crystal. This is where I want to resonate. After a while, I ground again to relieve any excess energy within my system, and the frequency I remain at will be a comfortable and lighter vibration than I had previously been residing at.

We all already know how to do this!

This feeling of energy, thought, or emotion and then resonating with it is something we all do instinctively. When we hear a sad story, when someone else is confrontational, when someone compliments us; all of these shift our energy. That shift comes from us. We match the frequency. The idea that we can control our frequency is sometimes a tough pill to swallow. For those who have not been mindful about managing their energy, realizing they have the power is a bit like a Wizard of Oz moment. The notion that you have had the power all along can be a bit infuriating at first. Taking the steps to be intentional about our frequency and where we resonate is easier said than done sometimes. Be kind to yourself and be patient but most of all believe you have the power.

Give this exercise a try and see what you might want to add or take away to find your ritual to help you raise your vibrations.

CLEARING & CIRCULATING ENERGY

Thoughts From The Void

Even if we do all the right things like eat healthy, exercise, and be mindful of our thoughts; it still will be necessary to periodically cleanse our energy field. What does it mean to cleanse our energy? Removing or healing any issues that prevent clear-flowing energetic pathways is pretty much the idea here. This can be energetic debris in our auric field, blockages in our chakras, or anything in between. There are many methods of energetic cleansing and what works best for you may vary depending on the level of cleansing you require at any given time.

How do we know if we should clear our energy?

The times when we feel sluggish, confused, overwhelmed, or maybe even just off. Pretty much anytime we are feeling funky, it is probably a good idea to cleanse and circulate our energy field to ensure our energy is free-flowing and strong.

In my opinion, the best way to prevent the build-up of energetic issues is to incorporate circulating our energy into our daily routine. It doesn’t take very long but if we circulate our energy, we can prevent stagnation and become more aware of any issues that are present. It also helps to check in with how our energy feels throughout the day because when we do this, we will be aware of the majority of the disturbances within our system. If we are aware of our energy, that means we can control it. When we control it, we can transmute it.

So far, I have used a few different words in reference to the same idea. To me, clearing and cleansing are, on average, the same thing. We are talking about the removal of energetic vibrations that do not match the frequency we wish to resonate with. For our everyday sort of issues, these two words are interchangeable.

Cleansing isn’t just washing away the negative or lower vibrations within our field.

When we clear our energy, we are taking control of the frequencies we resonate with. The idea of pushing away and ridding yourself of all negativities is a slightly incomplete notion. Most of the time if there are lower vibrations within our field, we are the ones who put them there or allowed them to influence us. The acknowledgment and understanding of these frequencies we find to be negative is a key part of having a productive energy clearing practice. If we don’t address why we resonate with certain frequencies, what thoughts, emotions or behaviors attract or produce them, then we can’t effectively remove them from our system. It is okay to feel negative, we can’t hide from negativity, but we can learn from it and work with it.

When we encounter these lower frequencies such as anger, fear, or jealousy, it’s important to own them. We don’t need to process them right at that moment; but if we acknowledge them and set an intention to address why we feel them, we honor our self. When we honor our self, we strengthen our self. This is so important! If we want the universe to honor our will, feelings, and intentions; we must first honor our entire self.

How can we manage our energy?

One way I like to incorporate energy clearing into my daily routine is just before bed. As I begin to unwind, I take note of how I feel. Focusing on the area around my heart chakra, I ask myself how I feel. I take notice of my emotions and then if there is anything bothering me that I can work out in that moment, I try to reach a resolution. If I can’t find some way to an understanding, I make a note to myself that I know I’m feeling a certain way. I then say I will set aside time to get to the bottom of the emotion but for now, I will release it.

After engaging in my centering, grounding, and shielding techniques (ensuring I cut any energetic cords) I focus on circulating energy through my system.

For me, I “visualize” the energy moving freely through all chakras from the root up to the crown and then out into my aura. Sometimes there is resistance in certain areas or even weak spots in my field and when I notice this, I reinforce these areas with strong fresh energy. How? My will mostly. Same as when we do shielding, it is our will that sets those boundaries, when our energy field needs something, our intent directs energy to those spots. We need only know our will to find success here. If visualizing works for you great! If feeling is better also great! If all you feel comfortable with is a matter-of-fact statement that your energy circulates freely with strength, well that great!

For me, the best way to clear my energy is through my own intention. Addressing the frequencies that are present and applying changes to my physical self to help prevent those frequencies from returning. When you create your own practice like this, you then notice over time the areas you must address to really heal any deep wounds you may be harboring.

We can take physical steps to help keep our energy field clear and strong.

There are so many rituals and methods used to help keep energy fields working at their best. These are the methods I tend to use:

-Our will

Just make it so.

This one takes some time and trust in our own self. If we don’t fully own our personal power, this method will not be totally effective. It has taken me years to get to this understanding. Be kind and patient with yourself if this one is tricky.

-Ritual Baths

These are amazing and can really help to heal and reinforce your energetic field! My favorite two things to place in a bath are salt and hyssop. However, this is an area that you really can’t mess up so throw whatever feels good to you in there!

-Ritual Shower

For a more serious cleanse, you can make a tea out of the ingredients you would like to use for your cleansing. Then while in the shower use it to intentionally wipe the energy from your auric field that you wish to remove.

-Smoke

There are countless combinations of herbs and resins people use with the intention of healing, cleansing, and reinforcing their energy field. My go-to is dragon’s blood but do some reading and find the one that feels right for you!

-Physical movement

Yes, exercise can help cleanse your energy field. Physical movement causes circulation through your energetic pathways. This is something that should be incorporated every day for general wellbeing and that is why it is on this list.

-Crystals

Crystals are amazing energetic allies! They can help strengthen your field, reinforce your intentions and clear your energy. There are so many, and no choice will be wrong. The best remover of energy in my experience is black tourmaline and the top healer is satin spar (often sold as selenite) this one works so well to repair energetic issues by overflowing a space with high vibrations.

Check in with yourself!

Be sure to check in with yourself throughout the day. Be mindful of your emotions and your physical being and you will become aware of the energy that is circulating through your field. When a frequency is there that makes you feel unpleasant, don’t ignore it, don’t push it away but rather face it, embrace it and heal it. This is how I feel we can best manage our energetic well-being.

GROUNDING

Thoughts From The Void

I have to lead with some honesty here, I’m a bit of a jerk about this topic. I am not this way to offend anyone, but offending people just happens to be one of those unpleasant side effects of having opinions. Considering we are talking about a topic that falls within the category of “spiritual” things, this and all other perspectives, will be opinion and not fact. We cannot prove these things with science, we are talking about feeling stuff here and feelings are subjective and personal. Please keep that in mind and if my words don’t resonate with you then please; either share your words with me and we can find common ground, or it can just be okay that my experience is different than yours.

So, with all that said, I feel that having a strong grounding practice is immensely beneficial for ALL people – regardless of their level of spirituality. A mindful centering and grounding practice can help facilitate emotional stability, as well as improve focus and overall well-being. It is also a key player in energetic protection.

Before we can ground, we must call all of our energy back to us and center ourselves in our current reality. That means to get totally in the moment we are living in. Not worrying about what we will make for dinner, or that a-hole that cut us off on our way home, but rather all focus where we are right that very moment in time. If you are unfamiliar with how to center your energy, please see my post about it here, or feel free to do your own reading on the topic to find what works for you. It is a step that just can’t be skipped if we want to achieve a grounded state of being.

What does it mean to be grounded?

To me, it feels like stability. It feels like strength, clarity, and calm. It is when we bring all of our energy in close to the Earth’s energetic field and we exchange or circulate our excess or unwanted energy and bring in fresh calm energy from the Earth. This is a big part of transmuting energy. We can take the energy we do not want and release it. We trade it in for a vibration that better suits the “frequency” we want to align with.

Many will say you must be physically connected with the Earth or take a long magical walk through nature. Something along those lines was what I was always told. Get in touch with nature and its energy, and this may work for some people. Some people may need to be inspired in order to let go of the physical world enough to feel the energetic world that always surrounds us. However, some people can feel the energy around us all the time, and sometimes they feel it in excess. For these people taking your energy and letting it wander off into a whimsical journey is actually detrimental to the ultimate goal of grounding. It counteracts the centering we need to do in order to exchange and connect energy with the Earth.

We do not need to physically touch the Earth to ground.

Can it be helpful to connect on a physical level? Yes, but it is by no means necessary. We are talking about exchanging energy and energy can just go where it’s directed. Energy can be exchanged without ever touching the ground. Most of the time when I see people talk about their grounding practice, I end up squinting a lot. Not because I am judging them but mostly because it just sounds like some kind of fairy tale pretend play. It doesn’t make sense to me. It just doesn’t sound like serious business, and grounding is serious business!

Yes, it’s beautiful and it is an amazing thing to be able to take part in, but we aren’t connecting to or communicating with spirit, this isn’t divination. This is an act of self-healing. When we take medicine, we don’t flit around throwing glitter about as we take it. We just handle our business. Grounding is something that deserves respect because it is the foundation of everything else you do in your spiritual practice and has an influence on your actual physical state.

How do we ground?

Well, this (like all things spiritual) is very personal and varies for everyone. I have used several techniques but the most popular one people seem to talk about is the:

VISUALIZATION OF ROOTS

This is when you imagine roots growing down from your feet deep into the center of the Earth. As you do this, you begin to feel anchored to the Earth. When your roots are secure, you then imagine all the energy you no longer want vacates your body through these roots. Then boom you are grounded.

This version feels a bit incomplete for me. It also takes what seems like a lifetime! I don’t personally prefer this method. I mention it only because people do enjoy it so I feel everyone should at least give it a try. What I do now evolved from the visualizing of roots. What I do now works for me but might not work for everyone. The main point is that there is no wrong way! If it feels right to you, and you feel stable, strong, and have clarity after your grounding practice, then it has worked and that is your method.

MY METHOD

I do this and centering as a one-two combo followed by shielding. I start with centering, and I feel my energy shrink as close as it can to my body. Once my aura feels like it is the size of my physical body, I feel my energy shrink more; almost as though the energy me begins to squat down close to the Earth. Sometimes I do this sort of slow and others it is quick – this is when I really mean business. An example would be during a psychic attack, when there is energy intermingling with mine, that I do not own- I don’t keep it around.

I take all of the energy that isn’t a vibrational match for where I want to be, and I circulate it out of my hands and feet. I see it go down into the Earth with the intention of transmuting it, like a filter. I then pull energy back up through my feet that matches the frequency I want to resonate with. This really is as simple as knowing it is happening. The fresh energy works its way up through my field, expanding and reinforcing it. Then I go right into my shielding practice.

My version can be a bit “extra” for some people, but I am a bit extra, so I am quite fond of how my technique works for me. I feel it does more than just push away negative. We can’t just push it away and remove negativity forever. We should be able to see why and where we carry vibrations we may not enjoy. As I pull the energy back up it circulates through my energetic system, clearing blockages, and moving the energy around. I find this is something that is very helpful for our own energetic healing and maintenance.

Don’t be afraid to embrace your own way of grounding!

I hope you can find something useful here to help enhance your own grounding practice. If nothing else, trust that there is no wrong way to get grounded!

CENTERING

Thoughts From The Void

Many of us are familiar with grounding and might even be aware that it is something we can all benefit from. If you aren’t, it might be a topic worth looking into. The thing is the important step of calling our energy back and becoming centered in the present is overlooked when grounding is discussed. We tend to skip right to connecting with the Earth’s energy. The old “Take a walk in nature” etc., etc. type of tutorials and suggestions as to how to go about grounding always seem to bypass the imperative first step to becoming grounded.

Centering is an invaluable part of the grounding process and takes a great deal of mindfulness to master. Centering is the act of calling all of our energy back to us, becoming aware of it all and being totally present in our current reality. Without this step, it is not really possible to achieve a stable and grounded state of being.

While I believe all spiritual practices should be tailored to the individual’s needs. There is a basic idea to how centering works. How I like to do it can be modified by whomever chooses in a way that feels right to them. I will share my techniques and please feel free to make them your own and apply it to your personal practice.

TECHNIQUE FOR WHEN WE FEEL CALM

The first technique I will share is for those times when you already feel in control. Maybe you are feeling a bit funky, or even a little bit overwhelmed. I am talking about those times when a simple deep breath can help calm your being. In times like this I do the following:

1. I take a deep breath and feel the air go in. I notice how the air feels in my lungs, and then I breathe out slow and controlled. The goal is to breathe out for longer than you breathe in.

2. I notice my heart. Is it pounding or calm? If it’s pounding, I breathe again and focus on slowing my heart rate, really focusing on how I am in control of my heartbeat.

3. The next thing I do is focus on the area in the center of my forehead. I think about what I feel like, and I know that I want all of my energy to come back to that exact spot. Like one of those retractable dog leashes, this is like pushing that button and reeling in the line. This action is calling my energy back to me. Depending on how scattered I am, this can be quick or can take a couple moments.

4. I take notice of my body and feel my energy field tighten and shrink back to my physical body. I want all of my energy condensed and close. If you aren’t comfortable yet with visualizing or feeling your energy, simply imagine that your energy is coming back and in time, you will feel what feels right to you.

Centering is so important. Our mind wanders more than we realize sometimes; subconscious desires mixed with to-do lists, accompanied by minor irritants we may have encountered all own some of our energy. If we want balance, we must be aware of all of our energy. If we are aware of it, we can control it. From this state of knowing where my energy is, I then proceed to grounding and shielding.

TECHNIQUE FOR WHEN WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL

Now sometimes we are not calm. This is a huge reason why practicing centering and grounding when we don’t need it is so beneficial. If it is second nature, it is much easier to help ourselves when we encounter those moments that are overwhelming. For the times we are out of control, manic, or in the midst of an anxiety attack or other extreme emotional state; it is helpful to apply a different technique. For those moments when control eludes me, I apply the following technique.

The 5,4,3,2,1 TECHNIQUE

Here we are going to employ our physical senses and gain control of them. It helps to have a starting place, somewhere to build a foundation of stability. When we are unable to easily gain control of our energy, it is often much easier to begin with our physical senses. So, I like to name:

-5 things I can see as I look at them slowly taking a deep breath with each item I see.

-4 things I can touch as I touch them, slowing and deepening my breathing further with each thing I count.

-3 things I can smell, really focusing on the smells.

-2 things I can hear.

-1 things I can taste -typically a glass of water, because all that deep breathing makes my mouth all sorts of dry.

From here I am in control and then can do the first technique. This is a bit of a process, but it has saved me during legitimate anxiety attacks the same as it has helped in times of extreme anger or psychic attack.

Finding your way to exhibit control over your own energy field will prove to be a skill that leads to personal growth, emotional stability and all-around wellbeing.
