Throat Chakra

Moving up the system we will visit the 5th chakra, known as Vishuddha in Sanskrit which translates to “impurity purified”. This name seems a bit confusing if we associate the throat chakra with only communication. It really is so much more than that. Associated with Ether, or the space that holds all things, this energy center is the keeper of authentic honesty. When we are not in alignment with the truths we know, we find issues here.

I feel this chakra is all about truth and gentleness. Pure can be interpreted as “untainted”, but it can also mean “free from harshness”. It is important to realize that gentle does not mean weak. Gentle is calm and logical. It applies its strength in the most effective way instead of in the most forceful way. From my perspective, disfluencies within this chakra can be remedied by soothing how we interact while keeping the clarity needed to align with universal truth. Communication does not only occur outside of the self. Interpretation of thoughts, feelings, and experiences is a form of communication. We need to look past the surface on this one and make adjustments to ensure we embrace all truth. We must articulate and listen to the outside world just the same as we do deep within the self. In order to have balance in the throat chakra, we must do as the name says. Impurity purified or transform the ways in which we are not aligned with truth.
