Solar Plexus Chakra 

Traveling up the system we hit the third chakra next. Manipura is the Sanskrit name, and it translates to “City of Jewels” or “Lustrous Gem”. The idea here is all the value of who we are should be treasured and it can be found within this energy center- it is where the “self” resides.

Corresponding to the element fire, the solar plexus chakra is one that many struggle with. Disfluencies occur here due to unaddressed emotions and experiences linked to shame. Shame is one of those things we tend to shy away from. Even the idea that we hold shame is something that we stuff under the rug. The thing is, we all have parts of ourselves we feel don’t measure up. There are ways in which we think or act that we might not feel comfortable embracing in front of any and all people. These things, these ‘true nature’ things, are where troubles in this chakra originate.

If we wish to bring balance and strength to the solar plexus chakra, we must embrace all that we are. We must look at those things that make us uncomfortable and not deny that they exist. If we refuse a part of ourselves, we can’t very well embrace our true power. We are all one people, we are all equal, but we are not all exactly the same. Embracing who we truly are and learning why we behave certain ways, is the key to bringing strength to this chakra.
